Admiring employee artwork in the Metaverse – Zreality Grids enables virtual exhibition from BASF

For the tenth anniversary of the “Artists Incognito” initiative, BASF is exhibiting the artwork of its employees for the first time in the Metaverse. Thanks to the Zreality Grids platform, all employees working worldwide can marvel at 90 works of art by their colleagues in Berlin.

Every year, the BASF Service Hub Berlin of the global chemical company exhibits works of art by its employees. For the tenth anniversary, the organizational team of the “better together” initiative has chosen a special exhibition venue for the paintings, photographs and sculptures of 90 employees: a virtual art gallery in the Metaverse.

The virtual art gallery was individually developed on the basis of the Zreality Grids platform. In the Metaverse, a space was created in which the submitted artworks are not only brought together centrally, but can be viewed by users worldwide. “With one click, the art metaverse is on your own PC and the work of colleagues can be experienced and explored for yourself,” explains Sarah Moreth, Communications Specialist at Hub Berlin. “We decided to implement the anniversary in the metaverse for several reasons. On the one hand, the challenge was that since Corona, employees have increasingly been working on the move, and on the other hand, this gives us the opportunity to make the campaign available worldwide,” says Fabiola Cordeiro Pecanha, Knowledge and Communication Specialist at Hub Berlin.

“The solution is intended to be the first low-threshold access point for employees to the topic of metaverse and to show what possibilities virtual worlds open up for BASF,” says Tobias Breuer, head of the Mixed Reality innovation topic. The idea is catching on; the virtual art exhibition achieved around 2,000 views in two weeks at the Berlin site alone. BASF employees will be able to experience the virtual art gallery until the summer of 2023.
BASF also relies on virtual solutions with Zreality Grids in other areas. Breuer: “Solutions are already established in everyday work in various projects. Whether it’s an art gallery, virtual training, in training, sales or marketing, or in corporate processes: Virtual solutions enable us to offer employees, customers and other external responsible parties quick and easy access to BASF and its solutions.”
